We have put together some of the questions we get asked regularly and hope that you will find the answers useful. If there is anything else you wish to know, that isn’t covered here, please feel free to drop Sarah an email.

How many people can the lodges sleep?

4 guests can be comfortably accommodated; however we do allow one extra guest per lodge. There is a charge for additional adult guests of £40 and child guests of £20. You must also bring your own bedding arrangements, bedding and towels for the extra guest.

Do you allow pets?

Well behaved pets are most welcome at Cairngorm Lodges. Pets are charged at £20 per stay. We do ask that they are not left alone in the lodges and that they do not go on the furniture. All of our lodges accept pets.

What is the minimum stay?

The minimum stay you can book directly from the website is 3 nights. However is you would like to stay for only one or two night please contact Sarah directly who will try to accommodate you.

Is there a BBQ?

All lodges have a BBQ but charcoal is not provided.

Can we have a campfire in the forest?

Being located in the middle of a pine forest there is a real danger of a forest fire so we ask that guests please refrain from having campfires beside the lodges.

How far is the nearest shop to the lodges?

There is a small convenience store in Tarland, 5 minutes drive away. The larger villages of Aboyne and Ballater, which are 15 minutes drive away, have good sized Co-ops and excellent butchers.

How far is the nearest pub to the lodges?

The nearest pub is in Tarland, The Commercial Hotel. It also does excellent pub food and dogs are allowed in the bar area.

Can we get groceries delivered to the lodges?

Tesco will deliver groceries to the lodges. When booking a delivery slot please ensure you will be at the lodges to receive the delivery as there are no staff on site. The postcode to be used is AB34 5PZ and then you can select the particular lodge/cabin you will be staying in.

Can you help us arrange a taxi?

Yes Sarah can help organise this for you.

What do we need to bring with us?

All you really need to bring is yourselves, your clothes and some food. Other things to bring, if required, include BBQ charcoal, extra toilet paper and kitchen roll. We provide washing up liquid, kitchen cloths, tea towels, scourer and surface spray in your fully equipped kitchen.  For the woodburner we provide eco-firelighters, matches and your wood.

What’s included in the booking?

Included in your booking is your organic fair-trade bed linen and towels for all guests. Electricity is included as well as logs, firelighters and matches for your wood-burner.

What time can we arrive at and when do we have to leave by?

Guests can arrive from 2pm onwards on their day of arrival and must leave by 10am on their day of departure. We may be able to accommodate an earlier arrival or later departure subject to availability.

Can we arrive really late?

Yes it’s perfectly acceptable to arrive really late and special arrangements can be made in these circumstances.

Can you provide cots and highchairs?

Travel cots and highchairs are available and are charged at £5 per stay. Please note we do not supply cot linen so guests must bring their own. Fireguards are also available, at no charge, and are a good idea if you have very young children in your party.

Are there laundry facilities?

There are no washing machines in the lodges themselves, but there is a washing machine on site and hosts will be able to do some washing for you for a small fee. This should be arranged directly with your host on arrival but do let us know if you think you may require this service when booking.

Is there anyone on hand if we need any kind of assistance during our stay?

We ensure you have telephone numbers for your host who you meet on arrival, and Sarah, so if you have any difficulties you can contact either your host or Sarah and we will help you out.

Is there WiFi?

Cairngorm Lodges don’t have WiFi – we are very much an escape from it all break. However if you do require WiFi during our stay we can let you know where to go to pick it up locally.

Are Cairngorm Lodges child friendly?

The lodges are extremely child friendly and we really hope children will enjoy their time in the forest, in a safe environment, making dens and getting back to nature.
